Leica did a dirty and threaded this lens with a extremely rare 39mm thread, with a pitch of .70mm, the standard 39mm filters have pitches of (.50mm E39) and .75mm (more modern thread for most Japanese cameras)

The SquareHood adapter ring screws into the 40mm lens and then accepts a E39mm filter, meaning you can use your standard filters with this lens.

The ring is solid brass with black paint and is a total of 6.32mm in length, one screwed into the lens it will add 3.12mm to the lens plus your filter.

Owen ★★★★★

Took a gamble on this because no one else makes this thread pitch, and it threads on perfectly smooth with zero play. Finally my 40mm Summicron-C sits flush without wobble.

Penelope ★★★★★

Finally, an adapter that actually fits the oddball 0.70mm pitch on this lens. The threading is precise and smooth, no wobble at all when mounting a filter. It’s a relief to have a solid solution for this obscure setup.

Daniel ★★★★★

I gave up finding a .70mm pitch adapter until this one showed up. Threads on cleanly and the filter sits flush — no wobble, no cross-threading like the .75mm ones I tried.
